Our philosophy at Elderhaven is to treat those entrusted to our care, as we would wish to be treated if the roles were reversed. It logically follows the Golden Rule. We strive to provide our residents with a clean, safe, secure home to live in. We have always been proud of our surroundings, and of the care we provide.

Our employees are expected to be courteous, responsible, mature, attentive, caring, loving, honest, clean, wholesome, capable, educated, intelligent, observant, and detailed. In other words, we expect our employees to be the best people, caregivers, aides, and Christians working in this industry. The State of Arizona mandates that Elderhaven employ persons with current credentials and 12 hours ongoing training annually.

Elderhaven, Inc. is a not for profit corporation founded in the State of Arizona. As such we are bound by all the normal state and federal regulations plus a special set of rules for Not for Profit agencies. We are under constant observation by various governmental agencies.

The Adult Care Home is not a nursing home, it is not a medical facility, and there is no physician on duty. The care givers are trained in proper procedures and deal with problems as they arise. The adult care home conducts business on a personal level with the resident. The resident is encouraged to be an individual and to interact with the others in the home. When possible, the residents are encouraged to enjoy any activities that may be available and feasible. This helps to insure that the person still feels like a person and has self esteem and self confidence.

In the Tucson area, the adult care homes generally support each other. This interaction was instrumental in gaining recognition and licensure from the Arizona State Department of Health Services. The Council of Adult Care Homes meets regularly with representatives of the department to keep up to date on regulations and changes. The overall intent of the operators is to give their elderly residents the best care and quality of life possible under their circumstances, and to give them a feeling of self worth, which may sometimes be lost in the advancement of age and disability.
